WHO ARE LIONS?
From cutting a pensioners lawn, sponsoring a Seeing Eye dog, to raising funds for and administering an International project such as “Campaign Sight First” Over US$148,000,000 raised. Eye hospitals are being built around the world and thousands of cataract surgeries performed. Plus globally each day, countless other projects big and small are completed. Now with Campaign Sight First II Led by 7,000 Lions volunteers, Lions worldwide raised over US$20million to surpass the US$200 million goal by July 2008.

The First major fundraising project in 1977 raised funds and sent local girl to UK for rare bowel operation and surgeon to gain knowledge for NZ future operations. Original support for Powley House, purchase of bus, repainting, Christmas cheer and outings from 1977 to 90's.
Raised funds and purchased:
• Community Constables car
• First Manukau Coast Guard rescue inflatable "Manu-guard"
• Coast Guard repeater station on Manukau Heads
• Wheelchair lift for home of disabled youth
• Muscular dystrophy beds for patients
• Indoor Bowls equipment for local club
Now helping BHB Community Patrols with fundraising for equipment and providing management support and volunteer patrol personnel, Community projects, Community Carnivals, in Primary School grounds and Craigavon Park, Fun Runs and Concerts in the Park -funds raised for, Camp Quality for Children with Cancer and Lions Sight First Campaign.
Extensive support for Youth projects - Exchange students hosting and sending - pupil sponsorship and schools' special needs, Leos (in recess) Administration of Founding President Peter Schultz Trust for Youth, scholarships, pupil support and learning needs. Young Speechmaker of the Year sponsorship, Young Ambassadors sponsorship.
Organised and run scores of Casino Nights for local sports, youth, schools, and charities helping raise tens of thousands of dollars. We hit the streets every Telethon raising hundreds of dollars. Firewood chopping, coal bagging, demolition, pensioner gardening, Senior Citizen trips, Christmas parties and fireworks displays., Sausage sizzles, Christmas Tree selling.
