Places to eatIf you are looking for places to eat Blockhouse Bay Village has it all!

Whether you are after dining in or taking out the Village has many options to choose from. We are very lucky to have the choice of two sushi shops, both fantastic with a few seating areas if you wish to eat there. There are three cafes which are very different to each other in what they offer but always busy, one is also open late for dinner and is licensed.

We have a fish and chip shop, a kebab shop, a Chinese takeaway shop and a bakery for those who wish to grab something to takeaway. The licensed Indian Restaurant is also a fantastic place to dine with great food if you are looking for a night out. Two Dairy’s are very handy to grab anything you need both in convenient locations and of course there is our fantastic Supermarket where you can get all your supplies.

Finally, if you are after that sweet treat, we have a great ice cream shop. Come treat yourself or the kids.

There is a supermarket, a liquor store and two dairies for grocery items, places to buy clothing and jewellery, an optometrist, and a dollar store. With a choice of two hairdressing salons and barbers the family is sorted for haircuts. There are restaurants, cafes and a bakery all offering a variety of food. Three banks, a post office and three real estate offices make the village a very convenient place to go if you need a few things done.

Community

Armansco HouseThere is a great sense of community here in Blockhouse Bay. This is due to the variety of community based things there are on offer within a small distance from one another.

The Community Centre has a fabulous program of activities on offer like fitness, dancing and even pottery classes. They offer rooms that can be hired for meetings or events. The largest room can cater for up to 260 people. The Historic Armanasco House Building is also available for hire and is open on Tuesdays to the public to come in and learn a bit of history.

Blockhouse Bay has three Church’s which all run services, activities for children and other events. The Public Library also runs activities for children and events in the school holidays.

When it comes to childcare and education, Blockhouse Bay has a Playcentre, a Kindergarten, Primary Schools, an Intermediate, a High School and an International College. There is also a Plunket Clinic for pre-school health checks.
